Support for survivors of sexual and gender based violence

ActionAid International The Gambia, in partnership with the Network Against Gender Based Violence, is supporting survivors of sexual and gender based violence in The Gambia:

The one stop centres for the management of GBV Cases

The one stop centres are located at Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) in Banjul, Bundung Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Bundung (Kanifing Municipality), Kanifing General Hospital in Kanifing (Kanifing Municipality), Bansang General Hospital in Bangsang (Central River Region), Brikama District Hospital in Brikama (West Coast Region), Soma District Hospital in Jara Soma (Lower River Region), Farranni General Hospital in Farafenni (North Bank Region), Basse District Hospital in Basse (Upper River Region) and Essau District Hospital in Esseu (North Bank Region).

There is a support group of survivors of SGBV they have their meetings at AAITG office every quarter. 

The coordinator of this group is Mrs. Halimatou J. Jesaurorbo and her contacts are: +220 3852085 or email address: halimatou@networkgbv.org. The meetings are held at the NGBV Office in ActionAid New Building, MDI Road, Kanifing.

We provide legal support by paying lawyers on behalf of survivors

We also provide cost of medical bills for survivors if the medicine is not available at the hospital hosting the one-stop centers.

We provide support to care team members (all service providers from all the on stop centres- health workers, police, social workers and staff from ministry of Justice) to have quarterly meetings to discuss cases, challenges, provide feedback and way forward.
